Yearbook News, Last Coffee With the PTA, and the future of APEX!

In Person Coffee With the PTA scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd 8:15 am

Our third and last in-person Coffee With the PTA is scheduled for next Thursday, June 2nd at 8:15am in the Family Liaison Room. Please check in at the office first.

Sit with a few current board members in a casual setting. Enjoy coffee and light breakfast items and get any questions you have, answered. They will discuss what events might take place next year, what monies we have left to spend on those events, and your feedback and attendance would be greatly appreciated!

Yearbook Update

Get excited! This year’s yearbook is due to be distributed soon!

If you didn’t order and and are still interested in receiving one, please send us an email at the yearbook’s email address at: rcyearbookphotos@yahoo.com.

If you’ve emailed us previously at reidycreekpta@gmail.com, we have noted your email and you do not need to email us again.

For us to do a second run, we must be able to sell at least 25 yearbooks. Please also note that these yearbooks will be distributed early in the next school year.

Alternative to APEX Committee forming

As part of the Board, it is our duty and privilege to hear what our constituents have to say. One Reidy Creek parent, Jason Wright, has made his opinions known about our biggest fundraiser of the year, APEX. He is rallying other parents to join his efforts to explore an alternative to APEX in hopes that Reidy Creek can hold onto more of the monies raised. To get more details, please contact him via email at: jasoncwright@ymail.com (not Gmail).

Book Fair May 24th – May 26th

Yes, the BOGO Book Fair will be on campus again! There are set times for classes to peruse and shop, but it will also be open before and after school!

You don’t have to send cash with your child to school.

To setup an ewallet and to shop the digital Book Fair from May 24th-26, click HERE!

Here are the times they are open outside of school hours:

Tuesday, May 24th and Wednesday, May 25th:

7:50 am – 8:10 am

2:40 pm – 3:00 pm (with parents)

Thursday, May 26th:

7:50 am- 8:10 am

6:30 pm – 7:00 pm (after Open House)

Volunteers are needed for our Book Fair to run smoothly!

Some tasks include: refilling and straightening empty shelves and assisting students with choosing books. If you don’t have time, consider donating supplies! We will most likely need plastic bags. Make sure to recycle/reuse them when your child(ren) brings home their sack of books!

PTA Association Meeting Tuesday, May 24th at 6:15pm

If you’d like to join our last Association meeting of the school year, please email us at reidycreekpta@gmail.com for the Zoom meeting ID number. Reminder: you don’t have to be a PTA member to attend, but you DO need to be a member to vote on current roundtable issues.

Movie Night Thursday, May 26th after Open House

Yes, you heard that right! Movie Night is going to happen right after Reidy Creek’s Open House. We will need volunteers to help set up a projection screen, and to possibly manage concessions. Please email us at: reidycreekpta@gmail.com to volunteer.

Looking for PTA Board and Committee Members!

As it stands, we are still looking for a few Board positions to be filled. If the Board does not fill vital positions, the sad reality is that Reidy Creek may not have a PTA next year, which means: no Trunk-or-Treat, no Father-Daughter Dance, no extra funds for teachers to purchase supplies. If you are interested in making our children’s elementary years more memorable, please consider joining a committee or becoming a board member. If you have questions for the PTA Board, we will have our last Coffee With the PTA on June 2nd. More details to come!

The PTA Executive Board is the first line of parent volunteers who see what money comes in and makes discussions and suggestions for how it should be spent. They track money for teacher mini-grants, new P.E. equipment, and library funding. They procure materials for the student store and put together the school’s yearbook. Please consider joining!

Thank you for reading and for all your support!

Don’t wait! We have a limited run of 160 that are scheduled to arrive before school gets out before June. After all 160 are sold, they will only be printed in batches once another 25 are ordered.

A big THANK YOU to all the teachers, staff, and parents who contributed and sent in their pictures.

Your New Executive Board!

At our past PTA association meeting, the Association elected these new and returning officers for the following positions. Please congratulate them!

  • Secretary – Veronica Nagao
  • Vice President of Membership – Jenn Ramirez
  • Auditor – Andrea Orellana

Don’t fret! If you’d like to still make a difference and see where and how money is spent, we are still looking to fill these positions:

  • Historian – keeps track of PTA member and volunteer hours, manages social media
  • Treasurer – signs checks, completes a simple Quickbooks report for each meeting
  • President – leads all PTA meetings, oversees and manages the Board and all PTA-related event Chairs, is the “frontman/woman/person” of the PTA
  • Parliamentarian – Appointed by the President, studies by-laws and motions

The two vital positions that must be filled are President and Treasurer as the Reidy Creek PTA cannot function unless those two positions are filled. No experience is necessary, and training and resources are available. Please consider joining!

Also, thank you for joining us at our past Restaurant Night at Rubio’s!

To see how much we made, please join us at the last PTA Association meeting scheduled for May 24th at 6:15pm via Zoom. More details to come!
