We are gearing up for our 3rd Annual Invention Convention! The past years were a success and we want to make sure more students participate and get another shot at inventing.
Invention convention is an event that gives students an opportunity to invent a solution to a problem that has bugged them, or improve upon inventions that already exist.
All students from 1st grade to 5th grade are encouraged to join in this event.
This event will reinforce science, literacy and math skills, foster curiosity and most of all provide an opportunity to have fun while learning.
We sent the Intent to Invent form home on Dec 4th. If you need another flyer, they are available in the front office or by visiting our PTA website. Once we receive the Intent to Invent form, your child will receive a packet that includes the Rules and Guidelines. Information in the packet will also be available on the Reidy Creek PTA website – http://www.reidycreekpta.org
Inventions will be judged on Feb 24th and 25th to select winners from each grade level. And of course if there are winners, there will be prizes!
We also need parents willing to volunteer as advisors to meet with inventors once a week for a total of 4 meetings. You will meet for a few minutes per student to check their journal, during their lunch break, to see where they are and/or assist them if they have any questions. Please let us know if you are interested by checking the bottom portion of the Intent to Invent form, and including your contact information.
Please encourage your child to participate to promote problem solving and creative thinking skills. We would love to see their creativity grow as well as their self confidence.
